Please read our latest newsletter on the main page and be in prayer for us as we try to adapt to the current circumstances and focus on what God wants us to do now.

June 18, 2010

Ha!  I have beaten my last update by a month.  Now I am only ashamed that it has been 4 months!  But if you read our newsletter and our posts they tend to be woven in.

Praises

  • Homeschooling is winding down and has gone great. I want to thank you for your prayer support in that area.  I was able to collect everything for next year at a fraction of the cost.
  • We thought the transmission was shot on the van and it turned out to be a 240 dollar fix.  Hurray!
  • Ryan and Melinda are engaged and will be getting married July 24th.
  • We had a fundraising garage sale put on by our EA group and made 1,444 that went into our outgoing mission fund.

Prayer

  • For me to stay organized and on track with missions preparation.
  • That Ron and I can work as a team in the area of fundraising and preparation.
  • Our fundraising, we still have quite a ways to go.  We need to be to at least to 50 % before we can go to CTI (Cultural Training Institute) in September.  If we do not reach that we will have to wait until January.
  • Our visits to churches, that they would be receptive to hearing us and supporting us.
  • For Ron and I in our theology training.
  • For our Spanish
  • For the preparation of our ministries in Peru.  The pregnancy center formally opened in May.  Pray for the women who go there seeking help, and that they would come to it for help.
  • For our flexibility and patience.
  • For our health; allergy season.
  • For our book store that I will be reopening in July.
  • For a cookbook that I am writing with Peruvian recipes for a fundraiser.

  • We have 1/5 of our monthly support.

September 11, 2009

We have started our homeschooling so that is a biggie.  We have started our Encourament and Accountability Team selection so that is another area of focus for us.  I have listed the previous prayer requests that still apply and the new ones below.

Praises

  • Ron got a very cheap, yet good car
  • Bree is doing well in starting highschool and homeschool
  • Ryan got the job at the Mission where Ron works.

Prayer

  • Pray for the team selection process,
  • The team’s function as a whole
  • Our fundraising
  • Ryan and his girlfriend, Melinda’s, relationship
  • Pray that we have God’s blessing on our homeschooling of all the kids this year.
  • That I can get in some work on the book store
  • That I can stay faithful on listening to my lectures for my bible certification.
  • That Ron can make a decision on where he will go to school for his bible certification and
  • That we can figure out if that means a move or what.  It will be in January.

August 17, 2009

Well, things are never dull in the Kenaston household.  Last Thursday on the way to work Ron’s transmission went out and took most operational parts with it.  The praise is that he was on the highway and his tires locked up and he did not wreck or have anyone run into him.  The prayer is that this again takes us down to one car and we live 7 miles outside of town.  I am at peace with this, as this is our second time in the last six month to be reduced to this, but Ron does not like leaving us alone without a car.  So pray that God will direct our actions and attitudes about this.  Thanks!

August 4, 2009

It has not been three months since we have needed prayer, but I have been putting them in with my blogging on the mission page.

So here is the update:

PRAISES (Notice everything we have been praying for was obviously answered!)

  • We got our paperwork and everything necessary for the Orientation in SC.
  • It went very well and we were appointed as South America Mission Missionaries!
  • We have stayed healthy, especially me.  Gabby had a cold she got our return flight, pray for the cough she still has.
  • Ryan is applying today for a full time job at the mission store where Ron works as driver.  Pray for God’s will in this.
  • We were able to get a car from the mission for cheap and on my birthday.  It is a big old Fifth Ave that runs like a dream.  The kids call it the beast or the hearse.  It is plush like a couch inside.  LOL

PRAYERS:

  •  That I can get back in the swing of the book store
  • That I can stay faithful on listening to my lectures for my bible certification.
  • That Ron can make a decision on where he will go to school for his bible certification and
  • That we can figure out if that means a move or what.  It will be in January.
  • Pray that we have God’s blessing on our homeschooling of all the kids this year.

May 15, 2009

I cannot believe in a little over a month we will be going to South Carolina for Orientation.  We have a few praises and prayer requests for this month to tide you over.

Our praises are the way every thing is coming together in such a “God’s timing” way.  For all the books we have already sold in the book store, and for the family and friends who are giving us more to sell!  For clarity of mind and spirit to God’s direction.

For prayer, first that all our paperwork gets finished and DELIVERED on time.  Remember the last paperwork post office adventure?  We would prefer to not do that again.

Second, pray that all of us stay healthy.  We are glad the Swine Flu is fading away, and we managed not to get it, but we know that with a big family it is always easy to get things from school and share it with family.

Next, prayer for our finances.  We are really going out on faith in a big way to start with.  This trip to orientation will retro into our fundraising, but until then it is coming out of faith.

Fourth, pray for Ryan.  He is doing well, and working hard at Graduating, will be moving out of Grandmas and into his own place, and is trying to find a full time job for this summer, once school is out.  Believe it or not, we have a real peace about him staying here in the states when we leave.  We know he is in God’s hands, and He cares for us so much better than we often care for ourselves.

Lastly, pray that I will be able to continue to get enough hours into the book store and that God will keep providing buyers.

Thank you everyone who lifts us up to the Lord in prayer.  We appreciate you very much.  This is not the shortest journey or the easiest, but it is a worthy one!

May 1, 2009

Can you believe it is May!!!  I cannot.  We have a few praises.

  1. We may get a car loaned to us, we hear today!
  2. We have received the part 2 of our paperwork and the invitation to the Summer Orientation.  We  are in Step 4 of the 6 steps to the field.

Now for the prayer part (Always praise first, it gives you clarity)

  1. Our oldest daughter has Bronchitis and the beginnings of pneumonia, pray for the medication to work swiftly.
  2. Pray no more illness, we have had a strange array of colds and stuff.
  3. Pray for us as we do some difficult writings on the paperwork.
  4. Pray for the expenses that we must pre-pay for on this orientation trip.  That funds would come from God.
  5. Ron is doing tough finals this weekend.

April 22, 2009

Well, no car.  I figure God just wants to keep me at home more. lol.

  • Anyway, I still would like continued prayer for that.
  • Also pray as our oldest son moved out, on his own, to Grandma’s house in town.  It will be easier for him and he has another house for when he graduates from high school in a month.  We know that this is a growing thing for all of us, but it is always hard to let the first one go, so I hear, and I know that this is God’s preparation for us having to leave him back here in the states when we leave for the field.
  • Pray that the book store continues to do well.
  • Pray also for our references to go smoothly and quickly and that we will continue to be accepted and get the next packet of paperwork.

April 1, 2009

Thank you for all your prayers.  We have felt much relief from the trials we have been going through.  Not so much resolution, but definitely peace and strength from God!

We are reaching out to our church family for an answer to this prayer request as we sent out an email through our church with this one.  If you can fill this need let us know.  Here it is:

Dear Church Family,

We are in need of a vehicle.

Our van’s transmission is gone and it is inadvisable to get it fixed.

Age, beauty, size, is of little importance, but I need an automatic and dependable would be nice.    Since we are working towards going to Peru for full time missions we would like to borrow something (we are insured) until we go and then we would return it.  Not to be juggling borrowed cars every few weeks would be nice, but we will do what is necessary.

We also would consider buying something if it is only in the hundreds.  But we would ask that you pray about it before you offer it to us as everything we use money on now is going towards the Mission.

If you have something or questions call Stephanie.

 Thank you and Blessings,

Ron and Stephanie Kenaston

Please pray for us that we will recieve rest from these trials and strength for this journey.  Help us take a stand against the enemy by trusting in God while living this life He has brought us.  Pray that the things that are being thrown at us, to keep us from hearing God, will be blocked and that His will in all things will be clear.

February 19, 2009

We leave our home at 3:30 am tomorrow and will arrive in Phoenix at close to 11 am.  We will be returning Sunday night at around midnight.  Please pray for our flights.  For our fellow passengers that God will assign us seats beside.  For all those whom we will encounter on this trip, that we will be focused on serving God even in this time of training.  And may we gleen from everyone who God sends everything we are meant to learn.  I thank God for you.  Those of you who are following our journey and praying for us.  Thank you.

February 13, 2009

Please pray for us.  We have Stepped out in Faith and decided to go to Phoenix AZ this weekend.  We will be going to the Summit which is a mission conference put on by and for Food for the Hungry staff.  God brought us the exact amount of money we needed to cover this.  Pray that we will honor God with our presence there and learn what He would have for us there.

February 5, 2009

Please pray for us as we receive opposition from those who do not understand our commitment to following God’s purpose for our lives.

February 3, 2009

Pray for our marriage and the relationship with our children as we grow though this experience.

February 1, 2009

Be in prayer for us as we start this journey to raising finances and that Go’s mighty power would show through in it all.
