In the Grip of Grace

Posted by: Ron & Stephanie Kenaston    in Our Mission

From the moment I met the Lord I have felt his grace, but cannot say that I ever understood it.  It is so beyond what we have to offer in our humanity.  Unmerited favor.  And not just for those who are good to us, who do for us, or give to us, but to those who are the worst, who have hurt us….who have turned their backs on us.  Yet, that is what God did for us; humanity.  Does that not leave you breathless with wonder?

One of our books that we have been asked to read for our mission preparation is this book.  In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado.  The picture will lead you do a link with a description.

I am gaining an understanding of God’s grace that I never had before and it is overwhelming at times.  I am re-reading chapters before moving on because I am very certain it is God trying to teach me this very lesson.  Mr. Lucado has used his skills as a writer, and his heart for God, to put this together into something that I needed to understand, as best I am able.  It is not often that I read a book that changes my perspectives and understandings, but I find that it is true with this one.  I find it to correspond with the bible and not contradict it, and it points out things I have missed.  I find that I am by far touched with the awesome truth of God more in knowing the measure of his grace and am very humbled at the sacrifices that Paul and so many early biblical believers made with the realization of God’s amazing grace.  Paul understood it.  And he lived and died living a example of it.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a proper prospective of what we have received, yet didn’t deserve.  God’s Grace.

Our First Church Presentation

Posted by: Ron & Stephanie Kenaston    in Our Mission

On the 8th of November we got to share with Grace Community Church  about our journey.  How we got there, for the newer people, and a reminder for those who have been on this journey with us.  We showed a power point about our assignment and what our roles will be on the mission field.  It was scary, exciting, and relieving.  Building up to this has been very interesting.  We prepare so much and yet God pretty much steps in and helps us through it.  Our older children had wonderful points and funny things they notice.  I appreciate the feedback.  More for the information that I will get from it to use to better our talk, but also so that I can relax and laugh too.

Fundraising is the hardest part of missions at this point.  I mean it.  I would rather kill a turantula than present our need to people.  It is very humbling and takes more than I am, and I will say that I do it by faith that the Lord, who is so much more than myself, will step in when I need it.  Ron and I are both on a path of learning to do this.

We had people that sponsored us, pledged us, and encouraged us.  We will see the continuing results as time goes on.  But church was packed and so there was not lack of an audience.  It is in God’s hands now.  And he will prompt, lead, and provide.

Store is closing until Summer…

Well, the book store is closing for a time.  It is the “one too many” things I can let go of right now.  It makes it harder financially, but there are things that need to be done for missionary preparation, homeschooling, and homemaking that leave little time for anything else.  When things slow down next summer, if we are not in training, then I will open it up again and really hit the books hard, ha ha.  Until then just be in prayer for us as Ron tries to keep us afloat financially, go to college, and meet his missionary prep obligations too!  Love you all!  Thanks for supporting us.
